Arsenal will face off against Sevilla in the UEFA Champions League, with the Spanish team now recruiting Real Madrid icon Sergio Ramos.
Arsenal are back in the UEFA Champions League this season after a seven-year hiatus from the competition.

The Gunners finished second in the Premier League last term, booking themselves a spot back with the rest of Europe's elite. Last week, Mikel Arteta and Co found out who they would face in the group stages, drawing Sevilla, Lens and PSV Eindhoven in a relatively favourable group considering they were in pot two.

Now, Sevilla's defence is set to be boosted by the addition of Real Madrid legend Sergio Ramos, who has of course won the Champions League on four occasions. Arsenal's squad is relatively short of experience in the competition in comparison to Ramos, with the likes of Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli yet to feature in it.

However, the likes of Gabriel Jesus, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Kai Havertz have all featured in a Champions League final, the latter of which netted the winner for Chelsea against Manchester City, who Jesus and Zinchenko played for at the time, back in 2021.

Arsenal boss Arteta made no secret of his excitement to be back in the competition but did admit it won't be plain sailing for his players ." It was first of all great to sit there, I was there with my kids waiting for it, they were betting on it and it was a great bit of fun," the Spaniard said.

"It’s what it is. We don’t have any say on that. Some beautiful games to play, some very difficult matches to play as well. We are looking forward to start that journey."
