Arsenal injury news - All the latest fitness updates regarding Mikel Arteta's squad ahead of facing Manchester United in the Premier League this Sunday.
Arsenal will nearly have every player fit and available to face Manchester United this weekend.
Jurrien Timber continues to recover from a serious knee injury that he suffered on his Gunners debut against Nottingham Forest. Gabriel Jesus, Eddie Nketiah and Oleksandr Zinchenko have recovered from their individual injury concerns over the last few weeks and have all trained this week and will be available for the weekend.
Raphael Varane has joined Luke Shaw, Mason Mount and Tyrell Malacia on the injury list at Old Trafford with both set to miss the clash in north London, though they seem to be boosted by deadline day arrivals of Sergio Reguilon and Sofyan Amrabat. With that said, football.london has rounded up the latest Arsenal injury news ahead of taking on Man United at Emirates Stadium this weekend.
Oleksandr Zinchenko
Oleksandr Zinchenko hasn't been able to feature at the start of this season following an injury picked up in pre-season that has seen him sidelined for a few weeks. The defender has made a return to the squad as of late and could be handed a first start against Manchester United.
What Mikel Arteta has said: "Zinchenko’s a really important player for us. Like Jurrien was. What Jurrien was giving us in the first few games it’s incredible. But he wasn’t there so we have to do something else. If we have another injury we’re going to have to do something else. If Bukayo is not there we’re going to have something else. So the M25 won’t be good enough. Maybe we’ll take another one. If I speak to a taxi driver that has learned the whole of London for 20 years, I know nothing compared to him because he will tell me all the streets and options at the best time."
Jurrien Timber
The Dutch defender cruelly sustained an ACL injury on his Arsenal debut against Nottingham Forest. Timber is expected to miss the majority of the season, but posted an update on social media on Friday showing his progress.
Injury: Knee
Return date: 2024
What Arteta has said: "Huge blow. Especially for him after just joining the club. To have the injury he has is a huge blow. We recruited him with clear intentions and what he was bringing to the team was evident, but he's not going to be able to do it this season. We have to adapt. These things happen, unfortunately, and we have to move on."
Eddie Nketiah
Nketiah came off the bench to put Arsenal 2-1 ahead against Fulham with a well-timed run and strike. Rumours then circulated that the Hale Ender picked up a knee injury. The striker did, however, finish the game and conducted media interviews afterward and football.london understands the gossip was wide of the mark.
Injury: Knee
Return date: Manchester United (H) - September 3
Gabriel Jesus
The striker made his first appearance of the season off the bench in the draw against Fulham, although he only played ten minutes and was unable to grab a winner.
Injury: Knee
Return date: Manchester United (H) - September 3.
What Arteta has said: "The way we generated chance after chance I didn’t think it was necessary (to bring Jesus on). We decided in the last minute to bring him in. He’s only had a few days of training sessions after the surgery."
Takehiro Tomiyasu
Tomiyasu was sent off in the second half against Crystal Palace for two bookable offences. The defender has now served his one-match suspension and is available for selection this weekend.
Return date: Manchester United (H) - September 3
Mohamed Elneny
The midfielder suffered a serious knee injury in January, which sidelined him for the remainder of last season. There has been little news regarding his recovery and a possible return date is currently unclear.
