WATCH : Alisson’s save labelled ‘best I’ve ever seen’ by Newcastle boss Eddie Howe —What a save...

Newcastle United head coach Eddie Howe, on Sunday evening, was keen to make his appreciation for Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker known.

This comes, for those who may have missed it, after the Brazilian played a central role in his side’s eventual triumph at St. James’ Park.

Jurgen Klopp’s troops, of course, made the trip to Tyneside earlier today, ultimately emerging on the right side of a 2-1 result.

After both falling behind, and seeing captain Virgil van Dijk given his marching orders, Liverpool stood tall, eventually battling back to a remarkable victory courtesy of a double on the part of substitute Darwin Nunez.

Nunez, though, was not the only hero for the day’s visitors to St. James’.

At the other end, shot-stopper Alisson was at his imperious best throughout, producing a number of world-class saves to keep Newcastle at bay.

It was one in particular, though, which, as alluded to above, culminated in Eddie Howe paying Liverpool’s no.1 just about the highest compliment possible.

Speaking to the media on the back of the full-time whistle on Sunday, Newcastle’s boss explained:

“Alisson’s save, for [Miguel] Almiron’s shot, was the best I’ve ever seen in my life.”

For those who were not lucky enough to catch the save in question live, it arrived late in the first-half, when Alisson somehow managed to tip a thunderous Almiron drive onto the woodwork and out.

Alisson Becker wants Liverpool to carry forward the same desire and unity that was on display in the Reds' remarkable comeback victory over Newcastle United.

Darwin Nunez's late double saw Jürgen Klopp's side depart St. James' Park on Sunday with a memorable three points from what was a topsy-turvy Premier League encounter.

Anthony Gordon had opened the scoring in the first half for the hosts, before Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk received a red card for a foul on Alexander Isak moments later.

All the moments, the hard moments, we are there for him. The South Americans are there for him, all the teammates are there for him and I see the supporters as well, everybody loves him. When he comes on in a game they shout his name already: Nunez! Nunez! We make a few jokes with him about that as well, but I'm serious, I say to him so many times people here at Liverpool they love you and they want you to do well and you need to be patient.

I think he is showing that. He is being patient, but this guy has fire inside of him, he has a lot of desire to play more, to be decisive for the team, not as a selfish sort, but he really wants to help the team to make big things, to win games and to win trophies. This is the kind of mentality he has because this guy is on fire, and I hope he can keep this performance from now on.
