Confirm : Mykhaylo Mudryk Arsenal at Emirates to complete a swap switch to Arsenal after deal agreed between Chelsea and Arsenal for Smith Rowe swap deal...

Arsenal have a number of ways to bring in signings before the window closes as football.london takes a look at three potential pathways including a deal for Mykhailo Mudryk.
The transfer window is coming to a close and despite the initial wave of euphoria regarding £200million-plus spent by Arsenal on four top players, the feeling has quickly diminished after a combination of early-season blues. Jurrien Timber, who arrived in the summer, suffered an ACL injury in the Gunners’ first game of the league season and two points have been dropped to Fulham whilst Mikel Arteta has baffled many supporters with his change of system.

There are needs still and the market does not look as though it is going to provide. There remains a slim chance to do business but it will require the movement of several players out of the club and investment to be sanctioned or shrewd loan moves to be found.

With that in mind, football.london takes a look at the different types of deals that could still be on the table in the remaining days of the window. Whatever happens from here will be something akin to a rabbit being pulled out of the hat by sporting director Edu Gaspar.

Emile Smith Rowe leaving Arsenal? For Chelsea of all clubs? Well, that's the rumour heading into transfer deadline day.

Despite spending more than £350million, breaking the British transfer record to sign Moises Caicedo as well as bringing in the likes of Romeo Lavia, Axel Disasi, Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku, it would appear that the Blues - under new head coach Mauricio Pochettino - remain open to more deals.

And reports have emerged suggesting that they are lining Smith Rowe up as a potential target. Initially, it was reported that Arsenal's stance was that they would like to keep the Hale End academy graduate and it was unlikely that the 23-year-old would be leaving the Emirates Stadium, but crucially, nothing had been ruled out.

However, it's been claimed by The Times that the north London outfit would be willing to sell Smith Rowe following an approach from the Blues. Whether the two clubs can reach an agreement remains to be seen, but with Friday being deadline day it's safe to say a decision is imminent.

Deals between the Gunners and Chelsea have been common in recent years. Although, more so in one direction with Petr Cech, David Luiz, Willian, Jorginho and Kai Havertz making the switch from Stamford Bridge to the Emirates Stadium. In fact, aside from Olivier Giroud in 2018, you'd have to go back to 2006 for the last high-profile Arsenal star to make the jump when Ashley Cole crossed the divide in a swap deal involving William Gallas.

But with Smith Rowe not playing a single minute of Premier League football so far this season, some Arsenal supporters are beginning to accept that he might just be on the move and have taken to social media to suggest Edu Gaspar and company should not entertain offers less than £70million.

Mykhailo Mudryk

Lastly is the fabled swap deal with clubs willing to do business if they get something in return. Rumours are that Chelsea have an interest in Emile Smith Rowe and have already been knocked back in an approach but reportedly would be willing to use players in a potential swap to sweeten the deal and open Arsenal up to a move.

Mykhailo Mudryk has been a name linked with Arsenal for some time and has since been raised as a potential candidate for a swap. The idea that Smith Rowe could be swapped for the Ukrainian international, however, will not be a popular one with the majority of supporters after his very poor start to life in the Premier League.

Nico Williams

One possible route for Arsenal could be in the form of the activation of a buyout clause. Price tags tend to soar toward the close of the window as clubs do not wish to sell but these release clauses allow sides to bypass negotiations and try to convince the player – just as Arsenal did in 2020 with Thomas Partey to the frustration of Atletico Madrid.

Spanish sides have release clauses inserted into the near-majority of their players, with clubs like Barcelona often making sure the fee is of a ludicrously unreachable amount. However, specifically for young players outside of Spain’s top three, there are opportunities in the Primera Division.

One player is Spanish international winger Nico Williams. The Athletic Club man has a release clause of €50million (£43million) and is one of the nation’s most exciting talents with the ability to play on either flank.
