Report: Liverpool have now met club director to discuss signing 25-year-old player as Mohamed Salah back up...

Juventus directors Cristiano Giuntoli and Giovanni Manna have reportedly met with Liverpool to discuss Federico Chiesa, with the Italian wanted by the Reds.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the Old Lady’s sporting director and director of sport are in England to discuss a number of transfers with Premier League clubs, with Chiesa, also wanted by Aston Villa and Newcastle United, on the agenda for their meeting with Liverpool.

The 25-year-old is regarded as one of Juventus’ best assets, and the Bianconeri look ready to offload the Italian international this summer alongside Dusan Vlahovuc as two of their biggest sales to help raise funds for new transfers and to balance out their books.

As a result, Giuntoli and Manna are now currently on a transfer blitz around England to help drum up interest in their players, with the pair now meeting with Liverpool to discuss Chiesa, who has been strongly linked with a move to Anfield over the last few years.

However, as per the report, Liverpool would likely only move for Chiesa if Mohamed Salah is sold, with Saudi Arabian clubs interested in the Egyptian winger. Yet given how important the forward is to Jurgen Klopp and the squad, this transfer remains incredibly unlikely.

Liverpool’s transfer plan for the remainder of the window should be fairly straightforward, sign a central defender and add another midfield whilst also looking to offload as much deadwood as possible. And should all this be completed, only then should Chiesa be considered.

As we know, Liverpool’s attacking ranks are quite incredible even with Roberto Firmino leaving in the summer. And whilst Chiesa would be a good fit under Klopp, other issues in the squad have to take priority heading into the new Premier League season.
