'Talks are advanced': Fabrizio Romano claims Liverpool about to sign 'technically gifted' player deal very close...

'Completed': Fabrizio Romano says on Twitter that Liverpool transfer will go through next week
Jermaine Pennant is excited at the prospect of Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool signing Nice’s ‘technically gifted’ midfielder Khephren Thuram.

The 22-year-old is currently on national duty for France’s U21s at the European championships and Pennant added that the player is in the Steven Gerrard ‘mould’ and how transfer talks are also ‘advanced’ for Khephren Thuram‘s signature.

With Alexis Mac Allister already signed and Trent Alexander-Arnold playing this hybrid midfield role in recent times, then Pennant feels that the trio together would produce a ‘strong midfield’ for Liverpool, as he told talkSPORT.

Whilst the Anfield faithful want Liverpool’s midfield to be sorted this summer by new faces coming in, those very same supporters are also calling for Alexander-Arnold to be moved into the middle of the park.

Given that the Reds haven’t been linked with any right-backs yet, it probably tells you that it won’t happen.

Either way, a player of Thuram’s skill set and future potential would be a smart purchase by Liverpool and Pennant is backing it to happen.

“There is talk of getting Khephren Thuram from Nice,” said Pennant. “If that happens, it would be an amazing signing. Apparently, talks are advanced.

“He’s like a box-to-box defender. He scores goals. And he can go past players. He can have the ball at his feet, be able to go past players and then score goals. This is what this guy can do.

“I am not going to put him to a Steven Gerrard because he was one of his own but, if I can say it, of that mould. He is one of those players. Back to the goal, he can skip a player. He’s technically gifted. Amazing. Great athlete, strong and quick. And also got an eye for assists and goals.

“I think that would go amazingly well alongside a Mac Allister. They will play off each other. If you then throw in Trent Alexander-Arnold, then that’s a strong midfield.”

Jurgen Klopp’s side have been the only ones that have been able to knock Man City over and, on other occasions, fight them for the Premier League title.

If there is a repeat of the last 12 months, then the pressure will really mount on the players and the manager next season, who will only have so much rope to pull.

But this Liverpool side is hurt and wounded. Both of which could see them roar the loudest in trying to challenge and topple this dominant Treble-winning Man City machine.
