Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp tells board his No 1 target after making three-man wishlist...

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp reportedly wants a transfer pursuit of Manu Kone to be prioritised after the Reds confirmed the signing of Alexis Mac Allister. Klopp remains keen to continue strengthening his midfield and supposedly believes the Borussia Monchengladbach starlet should be targeted next.
The Premier League side have identified midfield as a key area of concern ahead of the summer window. Several key midfielders struggled for form last season, while long-serving players James Milner, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain all departed.

Mac Allister’s arrival was confirmed last week but Liverpool want to keep adding to Klopp’s midfield options. A move for France U21 talent Kone is reportedly the next priority.

At least two more midfielders could apparently arrive at Anfield before the start of the 2023-24 campaign. Kone supposedly tops a three-man shortlist alongside Mason Mount and Bayern Munich’s Ryan Gravenberch.

According to the Mirror, Liverpool are in talks with Gladbach over a £30million fee. Of the three players identified by Klopp, Liverpool are apparently most confident of snapping up the 22-year-old, who featured in 30 Bundesliga games last season.

The Anfield outfit are not giving up on Mount, who seems likely to switch Chelsea for Manchester United. The England star has supposedly agreed terms with the Red Devils, while talks continue over a £50m deal.

Meanwhile, fellow Liverpool target Gravenberch could reportedly be allowed to leave Bayern this summer. The perennial Bundesliga winners paid £20m for the former Ajax ace last summer, but could supposedly be tempted to part ways with the Dutchman at the right price.

Moves for more midfielders come after Liverpool confirmed the arrival of Mac Allister from Brighton. The Reds struck a deal worth around £35m to sign the World Cup winner.

Klopp spoke glowingly of his new recruit, telling the club’s official website: "We are adding a very talented, very smart, very technically skilled boy to our squad and this is super news, really it is.

"I do not think the football world needs me to say too much about Alexis' qualities because they are already pretty well known but it is clear that he is someone who can play in a number of positions in the midfield and is an all-rounder, I would say. He is calm and composed and someone with proper game intelligence."
