Report: Liverpool agree £53m deal but target has one big concern over Anfield move...

Liverpool have reached an agreement with Brighton over a £53 million deal for Alexis Mac Allister but the World Cup winning Argentine international will reportedly wait until the end of the Premier League season before making a decision.
Mac Allister, Tuttomercatoweb report, would prefer to leave The Amex for a club capable of offering him Champions League football in 2023/24.

Erik ten Hag’s side lost at Brighton on Thursday night; the aforementioned Mac Allister slamming home a dramatic stoppage-time penalty. But United need only three wins from their final five to secure a Champions League place at Liverpool’s expense.

Will Liverpool beat Manchester United to Brighton’s Alexis Mac Allister?

Tuttomercatoweb believe that Liverpool and Brighton have a ‘verbal agreement’ on a £53 million deal for one of English football’s most complete midfielders. Mac Allister, however, will not commit himself to Anfield until the Reds discover whether they will be a Champions League side – or a Europa League one – next term.

“Normally, the next transfer window will see him playing for another club,” Mac Allister’s father and agent tells PuroBoca.

“We don’t know which one. The talks are just beginning in general. But it is most likely that Alexis will already be playing for another team next July.”

Manchester United are also big fans of Mac Allister. United’s summer plans are on hold for the time being, however, as the Glazers continue to drag their feet over a takeover which, ideally, would have been completed weeks ago.

Former Anfield favourite Danny Murphy, meanwhile, has doubts about whether Mac Allister is really what Liverpool ‘need’. Even if concerns over the Argentine’s ‘legs’ seem a little strange. Especially given the role he plays in Roberto de Zerbi’s all-action Brighton outfit.

“Well, I wouldn’t spend (on him),” Murphy tells talkSPORT (19 April, 12.50pm).

“You would have to spend probably £60 million for Mac Allister. I don’t think he is what Liverpool need. He is a super player. I like him a lot. Brilliant technician. Clever footballer.

“But I think Liverpool need legs if is Klopp is going to continually play the way he is.”
