Arsenal captain set for reward after outstanding season.
Arsenal are ready to start negotiations over a new contract with club captain Martin Ødegaard and reward him for an exceptional season.
The Norwegian joined the Gunners on a permanent transfer at the beginning of last season from Spanish giants, Real Madrid for a fee of £35million.
Martin Odegaard was handed the armband following the departure of Alex Lacazette at the beginning of the 2022/23 campaign which has helped him take his game to another level this season.
The 24-year-old has excelled in his new role with increased responsiblity this season, scoring 15 Premier League goals and has played a pivotal role in cementing Champions League qualification for the first time in seven years at the Emirates Stadium.
The Arsenal captain needs one more goal in the last two games to become the Premier League’s all time top scoring midfielder in a single season, excluding penalties.
Mikel Arteta is keen to secure the futures of his leading stars who have helped Arsenal to an unlikely title charge this season.
Gabriel Magalhaes and Gabriel Martinelli have already put pen to paper on new deals, while Aaron Ramsdale and Bukayo Saka are expected to follow suit imminently.
William Saliba is also set to stay in North London and sign a new long-term contract, although no deal is close to being signed yet.
Martin Odegaard is the latest player to be rewarded after the brilliant season he’s had, with his new contract expected to make him one of the best paid players in the Premier League. Arsenal are keen to secure the Norwegian’s long-term future at the club and build a title-challenging team around him in the future.
The Norwegian is ready to commit his future to the Gunners and extend his contract which currently lasts until 2025. Ødegaard feels at home at Arsenal and wants to lead the North London to another title charge next year.
