Ollie Watkins has already explained his 'dream' transfer amid Arsenal interest

Ollie Watkins continued his fine goalscoring form on Saturday with two goals in Aston Villa's 3-0 win over Newcastle United. The England international has now scored 11 goals in his last 10 games after a remarkable turnaround under Unai Emery.
His double against Newcastle means he has now equalled his best season in front of goal (14) in seven less games. The striker's form in the Midlands has resulted in Arsenal renewing their interest in the striker after failing with a move in 2021.

The Gunners have long-been linked with a move for Watkins, with the Villa ace said to be on Mikel Arteta's list of summer transfer targets. However, his form at Villa Park has only added millions to his price tag.

Only four players - Erling Haaland, Harry Kane, Ivan Toney and Marcus Rashford - have scored more goals than Watkins this season. It's easy to see why the former Brentford man is wanted by the Gunners, with his playing style very different to Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah with runs in-behind defenders.

Whilst he seems perfectly happy at Aston Villa, Watkins' future could be tempted elsewhere in the summer if the right offer is made. It's expected that a number of clubs will be interested in his services, but the Englishman has already admitted a move to the Emirates Stadium would be a dream.

"Yeah, that's the dream, to play for Arsenal one day," the then-Brentford forward said in 2020.

Folarin Balogun's future in north London will play a deciding factor in whether Arsenal pursue a move for Watkins in the summer. The Reims loanee will either be part of Arteta's side next season or seek a new challenge elsewhere after his superb campaign in France.
