Liverpool will be without Roberto Firmino for today’s Premier League clash with Nottingham Forest.
The Reds will expect to beat Steve Cooper’s struggling side this afternoon in order to boost their chances of European qualification for next season.
However, Jurgen Klopp confirmed on the eve of the game that Firmino is due to miss at least the next couple of games due to this latest setback.
The Brazilian sat out a number of weeks earlier in the campaign with a calf issue and is set to depart Liverpool when his contract expires in the summer.
Darwin Nunez is one candidate to enter an attack which smashed six goals past woeful Leeds last time out, although Klopp spoke out on a number of issues which have held back the striker on his debut season.
“He will score a lot of goals, and he’s scored a decent number already,” he told reporters.
“But of course he’s still adapting. His English still isn’t great but we’re working on that. It’s not helpful to go through a debut season when it’s difficult for the whole team.
“How can a striker shine when the whole team is struggling? It’s not impossible but he’s had some super moments. He was injured in some moments, suspended in others. This is a long-term project.”
Calvin Ramsay, Stefan Bajcetic and Naby Keita all remain unavailable for Liverpool.
Predicted Liverpool XI to face Nottingham Forest (4-3-3): Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Van Dijk, Konate, Robertson; Henderson, Fabinho, Jones; Salah, Gakpo, Jota.
