Sources: Liverpool back in contact with Jude Bellingham - offer submitted.

Liverpool are back in contact with Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham as they lay the groundwork for a 2024 deal, sources have told Football Insider.

It was widely reported earlier this month that the Reds had pulled the plug on signing the 19-year-old in the summer window.

However, it is believed that Jurgen Klopp’s side have not given up hope of landing Bellingham next year.

Liverpool remain in contact with the midfielder’s representatives and have made clear that they want to press ahead with a deal in 2024.

The Reds want Bellingham to remain a Borussia Dortmund player – either on his current deal or a fresh agreement with a release clause.

His agreement with the Bundesliga leaders is currently set to expire in June 2025.

However, Real Madrid are moving into pole position to seal a deal this summer – and it is believed they have already offered Bellingham a contract.

Despite pulling the plug on a deal for the England international, Liverpool are plotting an extensive overhaul of their squad in the upcoming summer window – which will include a refresh of their ageing midfield.

Football Insider revealed on Tuesday (25 April) that the Merseysiders will make up to five signings in the off-season – including as many as three central midfielders.

A right-back and a centre-back are also on the agenda for Klopp.

Bellingham, who is believed to be valued by Dortmund at in excess of £130million, has notched 11 goals and seven assists in 40 appearances across all competitions this season.

The former Birmingham star has also captained the German outfit on several occasions despite his tender age.

Liverpool are likely to be without Champions League football in the 2023-24 campaign after a dismal season.

Klopp’s side sit seventh ahead of their clash with Tottenham on Sunday (30 April).

In other news, Liverpool now want to sign Paris Saint-Germain star.
