Report: Liverpool increasingly confident of signing Premier League star who wants £240k-a-week.

Liverpool are now increasingly confident of signing Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount ahead of the summer transfer window.
That’s according to TalkSPORT, who claim that Liverpool believe a deal for Mount can be done.

The 24-year-old is inside the final 18 months of his contract with Chelsea.

Talks over a new deal have stalled and if Chelsea can’t sort out an agreement soon, Mount may have to be sold.

It’s stated that Jurgen Klopp now thinks Mount is the ‘ideal’ signing to bolster Liverpool’s midfield.

The report claims that sources close to Mount believe a move to Anfield is ‘highly likely’.

There’s a long way to go until the summer transfer window but the Reds seemingly think Mount could be heading to Merseyside.

We can understand why Liverpool are interested in signing Mount.

A hard-working player who always seems to have the trust of his managers, Mount can bring new energy to the Liverpool midfield.

Mount is a proven Premier League player and has racked up 33 goals and 37 assists in 192 Chelsea appearances.

With 36 caps for England too, Mount has been vital for club and country in recent years.

Snatching one of Chelsea’s homegrown players would be quite the move for the Reds but they need more.

Even if Mount does arrive, Liverpool would still need another midfielder or two amid links to Jude Bellingham and Matheus Nunes.

Liverpool also need another centre back this summer and spending can’t stop with the England ace.

The Daily Mail claim Mount wants to treble his wages – up from £80,000-a-week to around £240,000-a-week – so this won’t be cheap for Liverpool.

Still, this has to be a starting point for Liverpool’s rebuilding job this summer with Klopp needing a number of additions.
