Liverpool are looking to get their transfer business done early this summer as three players edge closer to Anfield moves, according to reports.
The Reds have had a poor season with Jurgen Klopp’s side currently sixth in the Premier League table, six points adrift of fourth-placed Tottenham with a game in hand.
Recent good results saw them fly up the table but Liverpool were back down to earth last weekend when they lost 1-0 to relegation-threatened Bournemouth.
There has been a lot of criticism aimed towards their midfield and defence this season and recent reports indicate that’s where Klopp will look to improve in the summer.
The addition of Cody Gakpo in the January transfer window means Liverpool can probably manage without any forward additions in the summer despite Roberto Firmino announcing his intention to leave.
And Spanish publication Nacional claims that Klopp is looking for a ‘double robbery’ from under the noses of Real Madrid with deals for Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham and RB Leipzig defender Josko Gvardiol progressing.
They describe a deal for Bellingham – who has been linked with Liverpool for a long time – as ‘in the bag’ after the England international ‘already decided to leave Germany next summer’.
Liverpool ‘also wants to sign’ Real Madrid target Gvardiol and the Reds are understood to be ‘one of the favorites’ for the Croatian centre-back and the Premier League side are ready to ‘take another of Florentino Pérez’s wishes’.
Despite knocking Liverpool out of the Champions League 6-2 on aggregate this week, Nacional adds that it is Real Madrid who could be ‘the one who could receive a sporting humiliation’ in the transfer market.
And another Spanish publication, Fichajes, insists that Liverpool are also ‘close to closing the signing of’ Ryan Gravenberch from Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich.
Gravenberch has struggled to make the expected impact after swapping Ajax for Bayern in the summer transfer window in a deal worth around €23m.
But the 20-year-old has only started three of his 23 appearances in all competitions for the German side with the midfielder contributing one goal and no assists in that time,
Liverpool have been in ‘very advanced negotiations’ for the signing of Gravenberch with Fichajes describing the deal for the Reds as ‘one of its first bombings for next season’.
The report adds that Klopp ‘is aware of the need to restructure’ his squad ahead of the new season and that the Netherlands international ‘will not be the only signing to be seen’ at Anfield.
