Arsenal want Vitor Roque and are willing to do whatever it takes to sign the Athletico Paranaense wonderkid.
That’s according to Spanish newspaper AS, who have been looking at the best XI from the Sudamericano Sub-20.
Brazil ran out winners and Roque ran riot throughout the tournament.
Roque bagged six goals during Brazil’s run to glory and no players scored more than the exciting attacker.
AS claim that Arsenal and Barcelona are now ‘willing to do anything’ to win the race to sign Roque.
It’s stated that Athletico just won’t be able to keep hold of the teenager with clubs like Arsenal and Barcelona fighting for his signature.
EDU COULD PULL OFF A HUGE COUP BY SIGNING VITOR ROQUE FOR ARSENAL
Goal reported just a few days ago that Edu and Arsenal have been in talks to sign Roque.
Chelsea, Newcastle United, Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona were also mentioned in that race but Arsenal seemingly aren’t backing down.
That report notes that Athletico won’t take less than the €60million (£52million) release clause in Roque’s deal, meaning Arsenal face a huge outlay.
Roque, 17, has already scored seven times in 36 games for Athletico Paranaense whilst also bagging three assists.
Predominantly a striker who can also play out wide, Roque has been hailed as ‘the new Ronaldo’ – the Brazilian one rather than the Portuguese one.
That kind of talent would be so exciting to see in the famous red and white of Arsenal.
The Gunners have some top young talents already, including another Brazilian in Gabriel Martinelli.
Yet with European giants in the race, Arsenal can really show they mean business by pulling out all the stops to sign the wonderkid.
The hope is that Edu’s connections in Brazil can help Arsenal win this race, no doubt hoping for some revenge on Chelsea after they snatched Mykhailo Mudryk.
