Report: Arsenal eye move for £50m Chelsea superstar who Boehly only signed last year

Arsenal are reportedly eyeing a shock summer move to sign Chelsea star Raheem Sterling, with Mikel Arteta keen to reunite with the former Manchester City winger.
According to 90min, the north London side are interested in adding to their attacking options ahead of their pending return to the UEFA Champions League, with Sterling now emerging as a surprise option for Arsenal despite the forward only signing for Chelsea last summer.

The Blues landed the England international in a £50m deal in one of Todd Boehly’s first transfers as owner of the west London side. However, with Sterling failing to make much of an impression at Stamford Bridge, the former City superstar could already be made available.

As a result, Arsenal could now make a swoop for Sterling as Arteta looks to bolster his attacking options ahead of the Gunners’ Champions League comeback, with the forward a player who could offer a lot to the north London side next season.

Indeed, Sterling is one of the most versatile attackers in the Premier League and a forward who has thrived in every position along the frontline during his seven years at City, in which the England international scored 131 goals in all competitions for the Manchester side.

And with Arteta coaching Sterling, a reunion could be possible in the summer, especially if Chelsea choose to offload the Kingston-born superstar to recoup some funds as well as to decrease the size of the senior squad, with Graham Potter set to have over 30 figures in the team for pre-season.

Arsenal’s attacking options are looking fairly healthy following the January arrival of Leandro Trossard, yet with Arteta interested in Sterling, the Gunners could pull off a masterstroke of a deal if the north London side can lure the England international way from Chelsea this summer.

With Arsenal likely to cash in on Folarin Balogun and Emile Smith Rowe tipped to transition into a deep playmaker, Sterling could provide a lot of depth for the Gunners ahead of their return to the Champions League, with the winger also potentially open with reuniting with Arteta.
