Arsenal have received a huge boost ahead of Saturday’s Leicester City clash as Thomas Partey is set to be available for selection after recovering from a thigh injury, as per talkSPORT.
The Ghanaian sustained the problem in training just before last week’s crucial encounter against the title rivals Manchester City. And as a consequence of that, he missed out on the last two games versus the Citizens and Aston Villa.
Jorginho was signed on deadline day from Chelsea this winter for situations such as this and he filled the 29-year-old’s void seamlessly in the last two fixtures. Although he could not prevent Arsenal’s defeat against Pep Guardiola’s side, he played a key role in the crucial 4-2 victory over the Villans.
According to the report by talkSPORT, Arsenal are confident that Partey will return to action against Brendan Rodgers’ side this Saturday. But, despite that, he may start from the bench as Jorginho could be rewarded with another start after a promising performance versus Unai Emery’s side last weekend.
Partey to return
Partey has been one of the most important players for Mikel Arteta’s side as the north London club haven’t lost a single game in the league this season when he started and played the full 90 minutes. So, his return will be a huge boost for Arsenal.
Meanwhile, after enduring four consecutive disappointing results in all competitions in recent times, the Gunners returned to winning ways last Saturday. And after losing the top spot momentarily, following Manchester City’s slip-up versus Nottingham Forest, the Gunners have now managed to restore their status as league leaders.
Arsenal have accumulated 54 points from 23 games so far this term, two points ahead of the second-placed Man City with a game in hand. Arteta’s side have a favourable run of fixtures over the coming weeks and they will be looking to gather as many points as possible from these games to solidify their place up top and continue their title charge.
