Liverpool have already asked to take £40m man on-loan in January, the player is ready to join - journalist

Liverpool have already enquired about a possible loan deal for Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat in January.
That’s according to journalist Dean Jones. Submitting a transfer window round-up for Give Me Sport, Jones claimed that the Reds have previously been in touch with the Serie A side over a temporary move for Amrabat.

However, such a move is now said to be ‘out of the question.’ After an impressive World Cup for Morocco, Fiorentina are said to be in a position to ask for as much as £40m for Amrabat.

There’s no indication as to whether Liverpool would be willing to match that asking price for the 26-year-old. However, Jones does suggest that this potential transfer should be taken ‘somewhat seriously.’

That may be partly down to the stance Amrabat himself has taken on the move. According to Jones, the Moroccan views a move to Anfield as being a ‘no-brainer.’

The journalist does also give some insight into Liverpool’s level of interest. The Reds are claimed to have been interested in Amrabat prior to his performances in Qatar. Given how impressive the midfielder was at the tournament, you’d have to assume that interest has at least been maintained.

Liverpool looking for winter reinforcements
We expect that there’ll be some movement on this story during the January window.

Since Amrabat’s breakout displays at the World Cup, there has been plenty of rumour about his future. But as of yet, nothing especially concrete.

That could be because plans are being put in place to get a winter move completed as soon as possible.

Liverpool could certainly do with Amrabat right now. Any new senior signing would likely give the whole place a lift, and one who’s stock is as high as the Fiorentina man’s is at the moment would be very welcome.

With Naby Keita having already returned from injury and Arthur Melo ahead of schedule in his recovery, Liverpool’s need for a new midfielder has perhaps lessened.

But still, the next injury only ever feels just around the corner. Plenty of big games are to be played after the New Year. The sooner Liverpool can tie up a player such as Amrabat, the better. Another enquiry needed then Reds, this time, make sure it’s for keeps.
