Arsenal transfer round-up: Joao Felix talks 'advanced' amid Goncalo Ramos blow

Gabriel Jesus' injury at the World Cup has forced Arsenal to change their transfer plans for the January window.
The Gunners have been left with only Eddie Nketiah as a natural replacement for the Brazilian striker while he recovers. The dearth of options is likely to lead boss Mikel Arteta to look to the transfer market for find further cover, with a number of players already linked.

Arteta will be keen to keep his side's unexpected Premier League title challenge on track, meaning more cover up-front could be vital. Here, Mirror Football rounds-up the latest Arsenal transfer news.

Felix talks 'advanced'
One player who has emerged as an attacking target is Joao Felix, who appears set to leave Atletico Madrid. According to the Daily Record, Atletico are prepared to allow Felix a Premier League side in January, if the Financial Fair Play costs of his contract are covered in full.

As well as his salary costs, Atletico are also hoping to bring in a loan fee of £8million, though an option to buy is not a necessity. The Gunners currently appear to be leading the race as they search for a replacement for Jesus.

It is said that discussions between Arsenal and Atletico over a potential deal are 'advanced'. Manchester United are also weighing up a move for the Portugal international, but it is the Gunners who are in pole position at present.

Ramos hopes dashed
Arsenal have seen their hopes of signing Goncalo Ramos dashed, with Benfica refusing to sell the striker. Ramos burst into the transfer market with a hat-trick against Switzerland at the World Cup.

With the Gunners in the market for a striker, it appeared the Portugal international could be an option. But GiveMeSport now report that Benfica will keep Ramos at the club for the rest of the season as they look to progress in the Champions League.
